Measured values are expressed as methane column density (ppm-m): methane concentration (ppm) x gas thickness (m).

(1) Calculation method: For example: the test environment contains methane gas with an average concentration of 100ppm, and the test distance is 3m, then the concentration value displayed by the device will be 300ppm-m, i.e. 100ppmx3m=300ppm-m.

(2) The same results may be obtained in different environments: When the concentration of methane gas is 100ppm and the linear thickness of methane is 1m and when the concentration of methane gas is 200ppm and the linear thickness of methane is 0.5m,100ppm-m is displayed.because 100ppmx1m=200ppmx0.5m=100ppm-m.

(3) The test results do not reflect the specific location in the optical path where the gas to be measured is located. In the two cases shown below, the measured concentration values are 100ppm-m.

Laser methane telemetry usage

1) The reflective surface should not be chosen from transparent material surfaces such as glass and Plexiglas.

2) When testing highly reflective materials, avoid two laser beams (this will make the test error larger or even impossible to measure).

(3) When using, avoid too large an irradiation angle, too large an irradiation angle will affect the response speed and accuracy of the measurement results. The response speed and accuracy of the test method in the figure below will be lower than the test method. Too large an angle of incidence may even result in unmeasurable results.

4) The laser beam emitted by the product must pass through the target gas, otherwise the target gas concentration will not be measured.
